Since 2006 this is the Camera I've been using

It was the premier camera to have, in 2001

I joined the digital revolution late, when digital cameras started to take off I read some where that digital cameras won't be as good as film until they reach 11 - 14 megapixels and regrettably I believed it, so I stuck with film. Sure it's probably true for the professional needing to make high quality prints but for the amateur who wants jpegs for their computer and doesn't really know what they are doing (and/or doesn't want to fiddle around too much while hiking), digital definitely out preforms film.

But with the explosion of photo sites in the last couple years I realized what I missing and that I was wasting time and money on film only to get one or two good shots per roll. So I decided to join the 21st century and went out and brought a digital camera. I forget the name of the camera I initially brought, but it was one of those small fit in your pocket type ones, 7 Megapixels (which was top of the line back then) and cost ~$300. My 1st trip with it...... well let's just say it didn't make it

My brother feeling sorry for me gave me his old Canon Powershot G2 to use for the time being until I got another one, and I just fell in love with it. It's idiot proof, it just takes one amazing picture after the other and it's got so many cool features I'm still learning. For family & friends gatherings my pictures always come out better than everyone else's newer & supposedly better cameras. And it's tough! When I first got it, I figured I was going to get another one anyone so I didn't really care for it (it's 1st "case" was my emergency winter hat) and it stood up to the abuse.

But after taking many great pictures soon this camera went from "Just for the time being" to "I'm keeping it until it dies".

All shots taken with my G2 are marked with at the bottom of the page
